I have had some more information from the council from my FOI request .What I have had is an explanation that actually beggars belief one can only say I have been treated with utter contempt by officials who obviously believe members of the public are as brain dead as themselves .They have cotradicted themselves so many times it beggars belief .Anyone who cares to ring me I will tell them about their claims .IF Cameron needs to wield an axe I would ask he starts with the deadwood that appear to inhabit some parts of T&W council .There are some excellent people at the council but there are others prepared to lie through their backteeth in order to save their backsides .It is known who they are ,they should go now and when leaving offer an apology to taxpayers for conning them .Then again there are none so blind as those who will not see .Moral to this is mistrust everyone of them and you will not be far wrong ,unfortunate for the ggod ones but that is life .D.L.Barnett

Before any cuts are carried out Telford and Wrekin council need to look at how money is being wasted .I have asked and continue to ask for explanations from T&W about non payment of any rent for the past 8 years for the hire of Dawley Town hall ,it would appear a lease for a peppercorn rent for 3 years was agreed ,a further lease for 5 years was agreed at £500 per month FACT I have had this information direct under the FOI act from the council.I have asked further questions why not a penny of this £30,000 has been paid .Procrastination appears to be the name of the councils game .I am told an investigation is taking place by the local audit team .This is the same local audit team, who appear to have ignored the fact the rent has not been paid for 5years.How can you carry out an investigation into your own incompetence .
I have tried to put the matter in the hands of the police but as usual in order to keep crime statistics down they do not feel the fact that £30,000 is missing from council accounts for one reason or another is worth investigating so they have referred the matter back to the Chief Executive . The police comments were incompetence is not a crime .There has been plenty of time for this investigation so I cannot understand the delay in providing the answers I asked for .It is my right as a tax paying resident of T&W Borough to know where this money is and if it has been paid why is it not in the councils accounts ?.These delays fuel rumours ,sour trust ,and in the tax payers eyes show the council and police in a bad light because it appears no one wants to take responsbility for these matters .A very concerned D.L.Barnett

Kuldip is not stupid and obviously could see the potential. It is a shame that Shaun Davies never sees the wood for the trees .This same councillor wanted to pay the Stage School a bonus ,god knows what for .Changed his tune now has he ?.The town hall could be a marvellous asset with the right people on a trust i.e. some that will put the public use of the Hall first and their personal glory last .The borough councillors who did all the groundwork should be amongst them but not let it be taken over by the wright brigade forgoodness sake .

The Shropshire Star show their usual idea of fair play in their reporting of this subject. GDPC showed no interest at all in looking into the future use of Dawley Town Hall it was TAWPA borough councillors who made the initial enquiries and held preliminary meetings with Borough Council Officers in order to move things forward. For their trouble they were reported to the Standards Board by the Baldwins of Telford Stage School but I questiion who put them up to it. TAWPA were completely exonerated of any wrong doing and moved things forward by arranging a meeting for interested parties to attend. One of those invited was Cllr Kuldip Sahota. Due to other commitments Kuldip was only able to stay a short time but long enough to see the potential in TAWPAS ideas and promised to take them back to the Parish Council to see if they wanted to be involved in a charitable trust set up to take over and run the building possibly with funding from them.
The Shropshire Star makes it look like all this was the idea of GDPC when nothing could be further from the truth and they have the audacity to ask CLLr.Shaun Davies for a quote when in fact in speaking in support of the Baldwins at Council he showed no interest in TAWPAs ideas. It appears now that he has adopted a Labour trait jump on any bandwagon if you think there is some mileage in it. Shropshire Star never give credit where it is due and that is one of the reasons it is dying on its feet.

A committment to Investing in Dawley Town Hall should be an easy decision for a parish to make. These buildings have served populations well, some for centuries. Communities are indebted to the inexhaustible and salutary provision of such amenities.
