About Us

Telford and Wrekin People’s Association was formed by Vic Tonks to fight the parking charges put in place in the Borough of Teflord and Wrekin, hurting economically many local towns and villages. TAWPA after a long fight and much support won throughout the borough, were successful in overturning the decision to impliment parking charges and they were therefore removed from all Telford and Wrekin Council Borough Towns car parks.

We are a group of people that believe, people should come before politics, there are people of all political persuasions in TAWPA with one thing in common, working for the community.

TAWPA believes that politics and whips get in the way of what the people want and need, and can do more harm than good to everyone concerned. More can be done by getting deep into the community through visability, accessability and being a part of the community fighting for what people want, not what the council thinks they need.

Cllr Adrian Williams with strong connections to Dawley was the first TAWPA candidate to win a Borough Council seat in Dawley Magna Ward 2006.

Shortly after that May 2007 the local Borough and Parish Council elections came and TAWPA put up many candidates and won all three of the Borough of Dawley Magna ward seats along with five seats on Great Dawley Parish Council.

Cllr Denis Allen from Park ward has joined TAWPA, and served as Deputy Mayor for Telford and Wrekin in 2009-2010.

We are looking forward to a bright future through out the coming years…..
